Endless Skies Teachers’ Convention—February 17–18 https://estca.teachers.ab.ca/

Opening Speaker:  Chris Hadfield

Closing Speaker: Mr. D aka Joe Dombrowski

A reminder to members that all teachers’ conventions will be held online this year.

Convention boards always work hard to create excellent programs. Although this year’s fully online convention will look different, you can expect a continuation of the great programs you’ve come to expect on concepts related to wellness, curriculum and other topics to help you reach your professional development goals and the competencies of the professional practice standards.

Here are some reminders about this year’s teachers’ conventions:

  • You are encouraged to attend convention from home or from a location where you can access stable internet connection. While some employers may allow you to use the school for convention, it’s your choice to go to the school or not.

  • Sessions will involve a mix of live sessions through Zoom and prerecorded sessions that are viewable on demand. Links to live Zoom and on-demand sessions will be included in the session information on your convention’s program schedule.

  • The Code of Professional Conduct applies while attending convention. Please help us ensure that all convention attendees, including presenters, guests and delegates, are treated with dignity and respect.

Tech Tips

  • If possible, please download your convention materials in advance to minimize bandwidth requirements during convention.

  • You will need to have the latest version of Zoom installed (available via zoom.us/download). You can do a self-test of your connection at zoom.us/test. The ATA will also be offering some opportunities for live Zoom testing so you can iron out any tech issues before the big event—please keep an eye your convention website and social media.
